If I use the DVB DTV capture card driver, mythtv-setup refuses to
download my channels from SD. It won't give me a list of channels to
select "starting channel" from even though I "fetch channels from listing
source" even though it pauses a little while while doing it like usual. If I
use the stock analog V4L capture card driver it works ok.

I can't seem to get my HD5500 working with r5f27. In the r5f27 release
announcement Cecil said that the HD5500 analog driver was disabled till
it was fixed, but I am using the DVB DTV capture card setting.

I initially started with an upgrade from r5f1 to r5f27 and it was working
except that I needed to refresh my channel listings for added channels
and it would not do so using the normal procedures, so I finally started
over with a clean r5f27 install and found the same problem.

I find that:
- setup-mythtv automatically detected and put a dvb dtv capture card
v3.0 in for me. It is odd that the "open DVB card on demand" setting
is enabled by default where it is not otherwise. It is odd that the
input connection "input priority" is defaulted to 20 instead of the normal
0.
- When setting up input connections, I only see the DVBInput (OTA digital)
and not the other inputs (like Svideo which I use more than DVB). If I
go back into the capture card setup "analog options" and change the
"default input" then go back out and go into the input connections, the
other inputs have magically appeared.
- Regardless of how I set it up, if I use the "DVB DTV capture card v3.0"
I cannot get it to download my channels from SD (it pauses a short
while like normal) and it refuses to fill in the starting channel. When I
look in the channel editor, I see nothing.

I mainly need analog capture, but I get DVB too so I don't want to set it up
for analog only by using the V4L capture driver.

I'm having the same trouble on a fresh 27 install. Did you ever find anything out that was helpful?

What I finally did to get it to work is to install the DVB driver
(without turning on the analog part of it by setting "analog options"
/ "default input") and also install the V4L driver (for SVideo capture).
Make sure you enable "open DVB card on demand" in the DVB 3.0
driver.

Sorry, just now noticed the reply and in case someone else
has this issue.
