News Feed and Channel Guid not functioning

Post subject:  News Feed and Channel Guid not functioning
So I built a myth box a few years ago using knoppmyth and gave it to a friend who really enjoyed it. I haven't messed with Knoppmyth since but recently decided that I really wanted a MythTV box again. Although now I'm having all kinds of problems getting it to run properly.

My biggest issue is that I've run mythfilldatabase and I've setup my news feed but for some reason although mythfilldatabase runs successfully and the news feed seems to set up properly neither my channel guide nor my news feed seem to be populating.

My channel guide just says "Unknown Channel" for everything and there are no listings. My news feeds just says "Failed to retrieve news feed."

I've tried modifying the permissions around the mythnews folder but to no avail.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you in advance.

More details needed:

* what kind of tuner(s) are you using?
* are you in North America and if so have you set up a Schedules Direct account and listing?
* did you link the listing to your tuner card?

PVR-150

I am in North America and have setup a schedule Direct account and listing

* did you link the listing to your tuner card?

I also linked the listing to my tuner card via mythtv-setup

*Gateway config

I loaded up virtualbox and ran a live session via a NAT to see if it was a network issue. I could get to the News feed via that connection so I'm pretty sure it's something I messed up with the configuration.
