I am setting up my first system and am having a problem with connecting up to the internet. I have two windows systems and a linux box all hooked up and working off of the same hub. The cable that I plugged into the new system came from another working system. So I think it is just a problem with the new system. AMD Athlon X2 5400 processor Gigabyte MA78GM-S2H motherboard * ATI Radeon HD 3200 video * Realtek 8111C LAN chips Antec case ifconfig just shows the loopback connection I do not even know where to begin debugging linux networking problems. Help? |

Apparently I just needed to learn more unix commands. ifconfig without the -a just showed the loop back connection. ifconfig -a shows the eth0 connection. After issuing the command netcardconfig, it worked. On to the next issue... getting the video driver to work. I am getting the Init "C7" respawning error. Apparently I just need to install ati-driver-installer-8-4-x86.x86_64.run This link gives a great description that a newbie can follow: http://m.domaindlx.com/LinuxHelp/ati/ati.htm |
