Post subject:  sources.list for R5F27 needed

Hello,

I have installed Knoppmyth R5F27 on a Via Epia ME6000

Can someone provide me a good working sources.list?

my current sources.list is this:

Is there something to improve?

(Sometimes, I have problems to playback DVDs and I hope to solve this by updating some packages)

Thanks for your tips

N-Stranger

Did that come w/ the older release of KM? Anyway, here is mine from R5.5 (I believe I edited it but can't remember for sure).

Code:
$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list
#Debian repos
deb http://ftp.debian.org unstable main contrib non-free
deb-src http://ftp.debian.org unstable main contrib non-free

#For libnet-upnp
deb http://debian.slimdevices.com unstable main

#For FreeNX
#deb http://packages.debianbase.de/testing/i386/nx/ ./

#For xorg-edit
#deb http://debian.geole.info/ sid main contrib non-free

#For additional multimedia packages
deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org sid main
deb-src http://www.debian-multimedia.org sid main
#deb http://ftp.sunet.se/pub/os/Linux/distributions/debian-multimedia unstable main
#deb-src http://ftp.sunet.se/pub/os/Linux/distributions/debian-multimedia stable main

As an aside, have you considered upgrading to R5.5?

The version installed is my first thought. R5F27 is old, and R5.5 is the current version. Someone just posted good directions for setting up the Via video within the last week or so. If memory serves the key point was to specify the openchrome rather than the via driver in your xorg.conf file.

Hello,

thanks for your replies.

There is no risk to ruin my installation when I use the repos of R 5.5 on my R5F27 system?

Yes, I considered - and even tried - to install R5.5 but I failed to get it working.
There seems to be a bug in MythtTV 0.21 (which is in R5.5): Watching TV does not use the hardware acceleration for video output (CLE 266). Although openchrome was installed and proved to work with xine.

Then I decided to install R5F27 which brings both: working openchrome driver and MythtTV 0.20 which is using the the chip :-)

Hmm... I dunno if R5F27 and R5.5 are both based on Debian/unstable or not.

Based on the messages reported in the linked posting it sounds like you have a problem with your playback profile configuration. There is some general nvidia based coverage of this in the hints, but for your specific case you cannot use the standard (nvidia) XvMC. To use XvMC you must use the Via/Openchrome specific one and make sure that the appropriate libraries are in the right places and properly configured. You must also chose a compatible set of renderers and blitters as described on the MythTV documentation wiki. (See these pages:
