Post subject: | R6 Successful Installation - Unsucessful Setup/Config |
Hi Team, Firstly let me say I love the new installation menus!!! Installation went find without error the problem appeared at the mythtv-setup point. It correctly found my Hauppage PVR-150 and set is mostly up. I then proceeded to install my two DVB-S cards. Only one of them was available to be setup. (I have been using these cards for ages and have never struck this problem on the 30+ reinstalls whilst playing with mythtv (0.21/0.22) & debian, ubuntu, fedora or knoppmyth) Lspci -v showed that the card was correctly listed, and the drivers were loaded. Also the card was shown in /dev and no amount of fiddling got it going. So I just accepted the one card, scanned the channels and started Mythfrontend. Choppy video and no sound, so I assumed that the sound card was not setup correctly. Sure enough it was wrong, (loved the menu within mythtv to set it up.) once I got the correct driver selected, I had sound and video but no volume. (Had this before got to specity a specific type in modules) I'm sure that the further releases with address this so I will wait for a full release. Oh I struggled with Arch as well, so different in some areas, I hope the shift is worth it for the updating system. Oh well back to what I know, I will look forward to the full release, as you are leading the way in setup and install and overall it looks great. |

Unless you just plain get lucky, that wont happen unless you provide sufficient details of your hardware and exactly what you changed to fix it. |

Had been working on that. Here is my lspci -v the parts that did not work are highlighted in bold. With the sound card I usually have to put in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base options snd-hda-intel model=[Your Model] (there are several choices) so I am not sure if this can be incorporated. As for the Second DVB-S card I can not work out why it will no work with R6 seems to be installed, modules loaded etc... I will keep looking however, any hints where to look would be great.
