Since the last update for zoneminder, there hasn't been any changes to it. Can you provide more details as to what isn't working? |

The Web interface runs with no problems. I can configure the capture card and camera setting. I can access it also through the myth interface with no problems. It all seems happy until I start it with either the web interface or by line command "/usr/lib/zm/bin/zmpkg.pl start". If you try and look at a camera output through either interface the output has no data. Once you start it, you start getting the errors in the log file. The log clip I posted was from everything.log from once I start Zoneminder. It just keeps repeating the same thing over. I ran through all the stuff that bobmyth had posted to get it going and it was all correct. I didn't have to mess with anything like in the original release. It looks like a great job was done on the new package to get everything correct. I did run pacman -Syu as well before I did anything. I will post the clips from the two log files that are unhappy. zmwatch.log Code: [root@mythtv zm]# head -50 zmwatch.log 10/20/2009 00:26:53.430269 zmwatch[11924].INF [Watchdog starting] 10/20/2009 00:26:53.430633 zmwatch[11924].INF [Watchdog pausing for 30 seconds] 10/20/2009 00:27:23.431902 zmwatch[11924].ERR [Can't get shared memory id '7a6d0001', 1: No such file or directory] 10/20/2009 00:27:23.432067 zmwatch[11924].INF [Restarting capture daemon for Cam_1, shared memory not valid] 10/20/2009 00:27:23.526065 zmwatch[11924].INF ['zmc -d /dev/video0' stopping at 09/10/20 00:27:23] 10/20/2009 00:27:33.527012 zmwatch[11924].ERR [Can't get shared memory id '7a6d0001', 1: No such file or directory] 10/20/2009 00:27:33.527273 zmwatch[11924].INF [Restarting capture daemon for Cam_1, shared memory not valid] 10/20/2009 00:27:33.625807 zmwatch[11924].INF ['zmc -d /dev/video0' starting at 09/10/20 00:27:33, pid = 11958] 10/20/2009 00:27:43.626592 zmwatch[11924].ERR [Can't get shared memory id '7a6d0001', 1: No such file or directory] 10/20/2009 00:27:43.626743 zmwatch[11924].INF [Restarting capture daemon for Cam_1, shared memory not valid] 10/20/2009 00:27:43.725192 zmwatch[11924].INF ['zmc -d /dev/video0' starting at 09/10/20 00:27:43, pid = 11967] 10/20/2009 00:27:53.725946 zmwatch[11924].ERR [Can't get shared memory id '7a6d0001', 1: No such file or directory] zmdc.log Code: [root@mythtv zm]# head -50 zmdc.log 10/20/2009 00:26:49.864748 zmdc[11887].INF [Server starting at 09/10/20 00:26:49] 10/20/2009 00:26:52.962022 zmdc[11887].INF ['zmc -d /dev/video0' starting at 09/10/20 00:26:52, pid = 11910] 10/20/2009 00:26:52.972925 zmdc[11887].ERR ['zmc -d /dev/video0' exited abnormally, exit status 127] 10/20/2009 00:26:52.973091 zmdc[11887].INF [Starting pending process, zmc -d /dev/video0] 10/20/2009 00:26:52.975537 zmdc[11887].INF [Can't find child with pid of '11912'] 10/20/2009 00:26:52.975756 zmdc[11887].INF ['zmc -d /dev/video0' starting at 09/10/20 00:26:52, pid = 11912] 10/20/2009 00:26:53.060317 zmdc[11887].INF ['zmfilter.pl' starting at 09/10/20 00:26:53, pid = 11914] 10/20/2009 00:26:53.219612 zmdc[11887].INF ['zmaudit.pl -c' starting at 09/10/20 00:26:53, pid = 11918] 10/20/2009 00:26:53.317349 zmdc[11887].INF ['zmwatch.pl' starting at 09/10/20 00:26:53, pid = 11924] 10/20/2009 00:26:53.413698 zmdc[11887].INF ['zmupdate.pl -c' starting at 09/10/20 00:26:53, pid = 11928] 10/20/2009 00:27:23.524093 zmdc[11887].INF ['zmc -d /dev/video0' stopping at 09/10/20 00:27:23] 10/20/2009 00:27:33.623730 zmdc[11887].INF ['zmc -d /dev/video0' starting at 09/10/20 00:27:33, pid = 11958] 10/20/2009 00:27:33.626132 zmdc[11887].ERR ['zmc -d /dev/video0' exited abnormally, exit status 127] 10/20/2009 00:27:33.626264 zmdc[11887].INF [Starting pending process, zmc -d /dev/video0] 10/20/2009 00:27:33.628004 zmdc[11887].INF ['zmc -d /dev/video0' starting at 09/10/20 00:27:33, pid = 11959] 10/20/2009 00:27:33.628559 zmdc[11887].ERR ['zmc -d /dev/video0' exited abnormally, exit status 127] 10/20/2009 00:27:38.034016 zmdc[11887].INF [Starting pending process, zmc -d /dev/video0] 10/20/2009 00:27:38.035991 zmdc[11887].INF ['zmc -d /dev/video0' starting at 09/10/20 00:27:38, pid = 11960] 10/20/2009 00:27:38.036658 zmdc[11887].ERR ['zmc -d /dev/video0' exited abnormally, exit status 127] 10/20/2009 00:27:43.722767 zmdc[11887].INF ['zmc -d /dev/video0' starting at 09/10/20 00:27:43, pid = 11967] 10/20/2009 00:27:43.724963 zmdc[11887].ERR ['zmc -d /dev/video0' exited abnormally, exit status 127] 10/20/2009 00:27:53.819910 zmdc[11887].INF ['zmc -d /dev/video0' starting at 09/10/20 00:27:53, pid = 11972] 10/20/2009 00:27:53.822067 zmdc[11887].ERR ['zmc -d /dev/video0' exited abnormally, exit status 127] I also tried running zmdc manually and I get the following Code: [root@mythtv ~]# /usr/lib/zm/bin/zmdc.pl start zmc -m 7

Hi, I am trying this for the first time. Have a USB webcam here as a test camera to begin with but I haven't got that far. Followed directions above with some minor issues: Quote: Fix permissions for images, events, sounds, etc Code: sudo chown http:http -R /home/httpd/html/zm This is /data/srv/httpd/htdocs/zm/ for me Quote: sudo chown -R http:http /var/log/zm
This doesn't exist (yet anyway). I am up to date on my versions of mythzoneminder (mythzoneminder-0.21-4) & zoneminder (zoneminder-1.23.3-10). When I try and start I get the error below. Code: [root@mbe ~]# /usr/lib/zm/bin/zmpkg.pl start DBI connect('database=zm;host=localhost','mythtv',...) failed: Access denied for user 'mythtv'@'localhost' to database 'zm' at /usr/share/perl5/site_perl/5.10.0/ZoneMinder/Config.pm line 89 Can't call method "prepare_cached" on an undefined value at /usr/share/perl5/site_perl/5.10.0/ZoneMinder/Config.pm line 91. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/lib/zm/bin/zmpkg.pl line 45. I'm thinking that there is no zm DB: Code: [root@mbe ~]# mysql -u root zm
ERROR 1049 (42000): Unknown database 'zm' Thoughts? Zoneminder looks like it badly needs a wiki entry, I'm happy to do that once I get it running. |

Thx Bobmyth! so zminit actually creates the DB, cool, worked... But lighttpd was failing to start, turns out it didn't like this Code: alias.url = ( "/zm" => "/home/httpd/html/zm" "/cgi-bin" => "/home/httpd/cgi-bin" ) so I changed it to Code: alias.url = ("/zm" => "/data/srv/httpd/htdocs/zm")
alias.url += ("/cgi-bin" => "/data/srv/httpd/cgi-bin") which I believe does what you were aiming for & now lighttpd starts. Unfortunately my (crappy test) logitech USB webcam, while detected by ZM, seems to not be working as all I get is a blank screen. Rather than killing myself trying to get it to work I may just try another camera, not sure. Thanks again! In time I plan on creating a wiki page on this, it certainly deserves/needs one. |

FYI, I did this write-up before you could install zoneminder from the service menu. When you install via the service menu a lot of the steps I mention here may already to done for you. |

Ah, good to know, I guess no point in me working on a wiki then... |

I think the wiki steps would best be written starting with installing ZM from the service menu. As I have already deviated (unintentially) from this setup, I'm not certain exactly what would need to be done starting with the service menu |

Post subject: | Auto-start? |
Well this is cool, I run Code: /usr/bin/mythzmserver
And it seems to be working (no 'live view' but that is presumably because my camera only supports stills?). I also had to go into the zoneminder (web-based) console and start my monitor. But the next question is, how do I have this stuff auto-start on boot? |
