I am having trouble getting samba to be writeable.

I have security to user.

I can access samba from my windows machine I just can't write.

When I open the network share I get two directories.

One is mythv and the other is homes.

If I try to write to movies within either one I get an error that says access is denied.

I had knoppmyth up and running but did a clean install and can't get this to work.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have never had to touch the Samba configuration, what I generally do is map the /myth directory on my windows computer with either the mythtv user or I create another user on my myth box that is the same as my windows account.

That's what works for me.

There is a screen/menu option under Service Menu>Linhes Configuration> [Screen] that allows you setup share folder, and permissions (read/write). I can't remember which screen it is at the moment, but it is under Linhes Configuration.

I could not find anything under service menu. In the initial set up screen there is a directory storage set up area. Is that what you are referring to?

Service Menu --> LinHES Configuration --> Advanced Settings. On the first page there are Read only checkboxes for myth and home.

My options under LinHES configuration are:
network settings
ddns settings
system type
screensaver settings
remotes
miscellaneous settings

I do not have an advance setting tab.

Just keep hitting the down key, there are more options not shown off screen below. It took me a while to work that one out.
