My SBE can play files recorded & saved locally and/or remotely.

My MBE can only play files recorded and saved locally. The error message when trying to play files saved on the SBE is:
mythbackend.log:2010-09-20 01:38:24.033 ERROR: LocalFilePath unable to find local path for '1014_20100919210000.mpg', found 'myth://172.16.32.76:6543/1014_20100919210000.mpg' instead.

So I added /mnt/tv as a storage directory on the MBE mounting /myth from 172.16.32.76 (SBE). After doing this the MBE works properly.

So my question is, why does the MBE need the SBE nfs mounted but the SBE works fine without the nfs mount?

Make sure you define your storage groups only on the master backend. This includes having the path entered for your slave backend storage on the master. Make sure you don't override your storage groups on the slave backend setup and just leave that empty on the slave.

This discussion helped me out quite a bit:

Thanks. I'll try that.
