Nvidia GT 430 not booting

Post subject:  Nvidia GT 430 not booting

I installed LinHES 7.3 and everything was working just fine I changed the display from the default low resolution to nvidia ATSC and everything still looked fine. I rebooted and got stuck on "updating time" obviously that didn't fail. I went into Xorg.0.log and I found this

According to Nvidia's website the driver 173.14.30 is not compatible with my card.
The nvidia-295.20-2 listed in the core-testing repository is compatible with my card but I can't get pacman to install it
on a whim I did a

pacman -S nvidia

and it said it was uninstalling 173 and installing nvidia when I rebooted I got a 300Kb log file that the forum won't let me post

LinHES worked so I got excited. I updated the display settings to nvida and ATSC rebooted and I got

How do I force pacman to install nvidia-295 I've tried typing in the whole file name but I can't get it to install.

As an aside I have been having video problems with 6.03 and on the install disc for 6.03 and 6.04 wouldn't finish booting I suspect there is some sort of mis-identification of my card. I was able to boot into the 7.x install discs with no problem.

My guess is the older module is still loaded.
Try this
- Stop the frontend with sv stop frontend
- unload the nvidia module with rmmod nvidia
- Remove the installed nvidia and nvidia-utils
- reinstall the nvidia-utils, nvidia pkgs with pacman. pacman -S nvidia-utils should do it.
- verifiy version with pacman -Qs nvidia
- reboot or start frontend with sv start frontend.

Alright I found the culprit. When I go to
Service Menu-> LinHes Configuration-> Display Settings
when I select Nvidia it installs nvidia-173xx
I did a pacman -Qs before and after changing that page.

Sorta, it's the info requested but it really looks like it would have picked the newer nvidia drivers vs legacy.
