I'm setting up my thrid Knoppmyth box, and have a new and perplexing problem: AMD mobo and FX5200 video card going out to an LCD monitor. After initial CD install, I rebooted and when GDM started, it went to a black screen. I ctrl-alted to a terminal screen, ran ifconfig/route to bring up network, stopped GDM, and ran install-nvidia.sh. now on reboot it comes up to a black screen, I cannot ctrl-alt to a terminal, and since I have yet to set up permanent networking (I'm kicking myself on that one), I can't SSH in. I'll try to intercept LILO and boot single, but I do not understand why the install didn't at least get me to an X screen successfully. any ideas? --Splash |

well some lcd screens are very finicky they want a particular resolution at a particular refresh rate, and maybe what knoppmyth was trying to use by default was outside the tolerances. |

I got it working by running the /usr/local/bin/install-nvidia-6111-debian.sh instead of the /usr/local/bin/install-nvidia.sh. All is well now Splashd |
