Okay, I just bought a hauppauge 350 card and a sound blaster live and plopped them in a 1ghz box that I have lying around. I installed knoppmyth on it and during the installation I turned on the IR option and left that mpeg 2 thingy for nvidia hardware off. I hooked up the channel listings to my account on that data direct site. When I go to the tv channels, I can see their names, but I get static with no audio and no remote. The remote and sound I don't really care about at the moment, I just want to get the video working. I've seen mention of ivtv not working with the newer cards, is that my problem? Is there some other option that I need to change? I've also seen mention of changing the tuner type and then they specify a number. Where do I do that? Is there a FAQ I need to read somewhere? I'm probably missing something obvious. |

I followed along on this thread and got my newish PVR-350 working. http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... ht=brendan (summary: the tuner hardware on it is new, even though they didn't change the model #. you need the newer ivtv module, changes to the ivtv config and perhaps the newer firmware. See xm301's post on the thread for a step-by-step that worked for me.) -brendan |

Thanks. With a little coaxing I managed to at least get a video signal working using those instructions. I did have to fix a bad symlink for some reason though. Right before the make lines to compile the new drivers I hat to run this command. ln -sf /usr/src/kernel-headers-2.4.25-chw /lib/modules/2.4.25-chw/build After doing that make and everything that followed worked but before that it kept complaining that it couldn't find .config I'm now trying to get the output to work though. I set the output_select to 1 for svideo, plugged the svideo->rca cable into the back and hooked the yellow rca cable to my tv. When the computer boots the tv flashes green and then I get white and black horizontal lines across the screen. Does anyone have any idea as to whats going on? Do I need to use svideo cables (This tv doesn't have an svideo to test with)? |
