Post subject: | Cannot attach to the backend ~ is server running |
I ran mythfilldatabase, then I ran mythbackend. The first time I ran mythbackend it crashed when it caught a SIGTERM, then it said it couldn't find port 6346. A ps aux | grep mythbackend shows no running processes. my myth-setup has the ip set to 192.168.0.102 the ip for the box. And yes, i did an ifconfig to check that the eth0 was seeing that IP. wazzup wid this? Also, how do I verify that my channel subscription was d'l'd? Along with those questions, I'm down to the last couple of issues: A) getting my backend up and running, see above B) getting my ATI Wonder TV card drivers set right is getting frustrating. I looked at this sourceforge project :: http://gatos.sourceforge.net/supported_cards.php , but it didn't seem what I was looking for. ATI sez it has drivers, but they are only for the XFree... and are for their Ratheon cards...anyone seen my drivers? if not, I'm gunna return this thing and get Huaung-obie-won-Konnobi whatever card. ![]() C) I wanna load a copy of Cool Hand Luke that I have ripped to .AVI. What format will I need this in? ie : mpg, 29.90, NTSC, 48.8... I rip a fair amount to VCD for playing on my downstairs TV. |

While you may have started the backend, it may have died. Did you check the backend log? |

ATI Wonder's are fully called ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder video cards. So those drivers just may work. Why don't you try them and let the rest of us know if they work? Don't bother with the Gatos drivers, if ATI's drivers don't work, check out the latest version of X.org for the another try at built-in ATI drivers. Are you running a separate server for the backend? If not, then you should have just left the ip to 127.0.0.1 |

ATI All-in-wonder will not work you might as well not waste your time. ATI TV wonder however should work fine for capturing the tv. so not sure which one you are talking about. |

I just checked on ATI's site, Xsecrets is right, All-In-Wonder cards don't have the tv capture function implemented in ATI's drivers, they just point to Gatos. If you are trying to use a ATI TV Wonder it should work out of the box, without any additional drivers needed. Pick v4l as the type of card (I think, that's it, I'm at work, someone correct me if I'm wrong). |
