Since my KnoppMyth box is on all the time, I want to use it as my apache+php, etc. server, but as a gentoo and redhat user, I'm a bit in the dark as to the safest/best way to install/upgrade packages with KnoppMyth. Naturally, since this box will be getting hit by random bots and stuff on port 80/443, I want to be running the latest possible debs for apache/php, etc., but I don't want to add the wrong archives to apt, upgrade things and get screwed.

As an example of my debian noob-ness, if you upgrade packages and things get borked, how does one roll-back to the earlier packages?

I've looked at the Debian documentation and its not very informative, IMHO. References to good books on Debian-specific system admin would be great, too. Thanks,

/djs

well debian is actually very good at not borking things, but it doesn't really give you any way to roll back you'll just have to find the old packages somewhere to install and force a downgrade. But in all honesty I've been running unstable on my desktop for over 2 years now and I think I've had upgrade mess things up twice and I upgrade on at least a weekly basis.
