Post subject:  Installation start up problem

This is not really knoppmyth installation problem. I was installing KnoppMyth and it was going fine, suddenly the power flickers on and off shutting off the computer. When I try and start it back up, it wont go to bios or anything. I tried to put in a windows xp cd and still a no go. I took out the periphials and tried it again and nothing. Anyone have any help of how I can get the comp to at least get to bios.

My other computer boots up fine and tried switching the wires. It'll power on and the dvd drive will come on and the hd will work. The monitor is on and it shows that it's connected (green). But it wont get to bios. Both comps are hooked up to the same power surge.

If anyone has any advice, it'll be appreciated! Thanks.

if you have a cmos reset jumper move it hit the power and move it back then power up and see if that fixes it.

Oh, and if you don't have UPS or at least a good surge supprssor GO GET ONE NOW.

I'm something of a fanatic about this. The "APC (American Power Conversion) Back UPS ES USB 500VA 120V" can be had everyday at any number of retail outlets for $60 and if you keep an eye open for sales more like $40. It's cheap insurance even at full price, and there's just no excuse for not having one.

When I was living in MD, where the weather forecast for every day from June through August is a 50% chance of afternoon thunderstorms, I replaced an average of 1 fried plug bar or UPS every 2 years. The only other piece of hardware that ever got damaged was an external modem connected to an unprotected phone line, and I never lost any data.
