FIrst kudos to the makers of MythTV and KnoppMyth.
I have been running MythTV for several years now and wanted to switch to the 0.18.x series. Having installed two frontends before using KnoppMyth (the backend was done with FC1 and Jarods guide) I tried the latest KnoppMyth only to find out there is still no option to do a 'Frontend Only' install.
The default installation of the backend with the latest KnoppMyth went without significant trouble but I ended up running both the frontends from the CD ('run as frontend') and then copied the whole /KNOPPIX dir contents to the harddisk, after that I copied the etc, var and home directories from the ramdisk to the harddisk and fiddled around to get lilo working.
However, after reboot KnoppMyth goes through the default post installation stuff afterwards (and I keep forgetting where Knoppmyth-run is started... try grep-ping through hidden subdirs) After some hours hacking away in the runlevel dirs and fiddling with the X settings I finally got both frontends running.. There must be an easier way
An extra option during installation 'frontend only install' would be very much appreciated..

The steps you took to make a frontend only are overly complicated. Basically, one simply need to do a regular install. When mythtv-setup runs, put in the info for the backend. We do plan to have an option that is frontend only. NOTE: KnoppMyth is a project that Dale and I work on in our part time. We don't have time to add every feature we'd like to. Since releasing R5A16, I've been so busy with work, I have not had a chance to work on making improvements...
