Post subject: | video4linux question |
I'm a total newb when it comes to KnoppMyth, so if this is an obvious answer, I apologize... My system has a AverMedia Go 007 FM card, using the saa7134 chipset. I understand video4linux should have support for this chipset. However, my installation of KnoppMyth does not detect this card, thus rendering the card unusable. I've attempted to install the lastest-greatest version of video4linux, hoping to solve the issue. However, when I run "make" I get an error that there "is no rule to make 'modules'". I guess, what I'm asking is, 1) HOW do I install video4linux, if "make" is not the proper way to go about it... and 2) if I don't need a new version of video4linux, how do I get my box to recognize my card? Again, I'm a total newb, so use simple terms on me! ![]() Thanks, dan |

Instructions for building V4L is on the V4L site. If you have not, you'll need to untar the kernel source. Is the card detected at all (lspci)? |

The card is detected, so that's a promising sign! I checked out the v4l website, but couldn't find anything that was readable by a dolt, like myself. Plus, it doesn't offer any troubleshooting tips... it assumes that everything works fine, all of the time. My computer proves this wrong... I'll check the v4l again... Thanks for the reply. cheers! |

Okay... just checked the site you linked to... this is awesome! Great info. I'll give it a try and celebrate as my card starts working... Thanks again... Cheers! |
