Post subject: | LVM Problem - not getting full drive space to show |
Following the instructions on the KnoppMyth Wiki for setting up LVM, I'm running into a snag. After getting to step 7, I'm running into trouble. I run out of drive space after copying over the contents of /myth to the newly created LVM called "vg" After doing a 'df' I get Code: mythtv@mythtv:~$ df indicating my 300GB hard drive really looks like an 8GB hard drive. Something got hosed up, but not knowing what I'm doing (other than following directions) - I don't know how to fix it.
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/hda1 3797912 1981160 1624376 55% / /dev/hda3 10505464 24 10505440 1% /cache /dev/hda4 140876548 21459328 119417220 16% /myth /dev/vg/myth 8182980 1225756 6957224 15% /mnt/hdb1 mythtv@mythtv:~$ I have Webmin running and could do the LVM work there, I suppose - again if I knew what I was doing. Suggestions? |

This is a good read on LVM: http://www.linux.org/docs/ldp/howto/LVM ... index.html It describes how it works and the various steps surrounding it. With it you should be able to find out where you went wrong and how to fix it. |

I run out of drive space after copying over the contents of /myth to the newly created LVM called "vg" I'd do it over, but stop earlier in the process and see if /mnt/hdb1 is 300gb or only 8. If it's only 8, then maybe something in the BIOS is wrong, or you've got the drive jumpered incorrectly? Just thinking with my windoze/DOS hat on, as I'm not up to speed on Linux yet. Maybe take a WinME boot diskette and do an FDISK and see if that sees the whole drive. |
