even I have reinstall a version of LCDproc on it by trying to compiling by self.
(i didn't use apt)
(I'm a newbie, so if I want to learn, I've to test :-P)

I know where is a LCDd compiled with KnoppMyth. But I have download and install another version.
something weird, when I type:
Quote:
locate LCDd

the output is
Quote:
/etc/init.d/LCDd
/usr/sbin/LCDd

but LCDd doesn't exist in these directory. I renamed LCDd to LCDd.bak before trying to install it by myself.

well if you don't know where it installed there's not much anyone can do, if you do you can just delete the dir. Some packages actually have a make uninstall if you have the old sources still around you can try that. This exact issue is why most people like to attempt to do all their installs using the package management system, so you have an unistall option.

Thanks for the reply.

The reason why I wanted to compile by myself was because I need to patch one file to fix a bug of my VFD.

That's it.
