I've tried following the Howto on the Wiki

As well as following along with this thread

But I can never get beyond this point

Code:

tar -xvzf mythstream-v0.16_3.tar.gz
export QTDIR=/usr/share/qt3
export PATH=$PATH:$QTDIR/bin
cd /usr/src/mythtv/source
tar -xvjf mythtv-0.17.tar.bz2

because when I untar mythtv-0.17.tar.bz2 the file does not exist, I can then not move onto the next step

8. cd mythtv-0.17

What am I doing wrong or is this HowTo no longer valid with R5A26?

I also tried using mythstream-v016.5 and mythtv-0.18.2 as per the above thread, but ran into the same issue. After

tar -xvjf mythtv-0.18.2.tar.bz2

The file mythtv-0.18.2.tar.bz2 doesn't exist.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

I got this to work just fine on R5A26 a few weeks ago. Try this.

Code:

ls /usr/src/mythtv/source | grep *.gz

Code:

ls /usr/src/mythtv/source | grep *.bz2

It's possible you simply missed the exact filename.

Neither command returns anything... and I googled for the file names too, it returns one hit, back to these forums.

Hmm, I thought everyone had the mythtv source installed in that location by default. It's possible it's missing on your install for whatever reason. Paste a listing of your /usr/src/mythtv/source folder in here.

Thanks for the reply afrosheen,

It's in there now, I finally figured out it was referring to the latest mythtv source file, so I dl'd it from from mythtv.org and stuck it in there....

So I've moved past that and now I'm struggling with this,

on the plus side, I am learning quite a bit along the way, hopefully some of it sticks.
