Post subject: | PVR-150 Remote Woes + Viewing problems ... [random work/non] |
Hey I'm new at myth, and im trying to get it setup and working. Ive gotten pretty far, but now im stuck ![]() I have two problems I can't solve... One is the remote channel changing script is not "firing off" even though it has been specified in the config as per the instructions in these posts... The second problem is ... when the box comes up and I choose watch tv, sometimes the picture will be black and white, and there is no sound, and more "thrashing" on the hard drive than when it operates normally. There doesn't seem to be anything particular I do to make this work / not work, its random. There are errors which ill definately post back. My system is a Dell optiplex GX400 P4 1.5 Ghz, I850 chipset, intel Audio i8x0. Hauppage PVR-150 card (non MCE) Nvidia FX5600 card, 128 mb. Have R5A30 of knopmyth. For the IR Blaster... I went through these PVR 150 IR Blaster Walkthrough (yes working!) http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... ht=pvr+150 LIRC HOWTO: Hauppauge PVR 150 Silver remote, R5A15.1 http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... ht=pvr+150 #!/bin/sh REMOTE_NAME=blaster for digit in $(echo $1 | sed -e 's/./& /g'); do /usr/local/bin/irsend SEND_ONCE $REMOTE_NAME $digit sleep 0.4 # note, you may have to tweak the interdigit delay up a bit, depending on your DISH receiver model done test it out ./chan_change.sh 321 This works wonderfully, and I can use my remote to navigate the menu's, so lircd seems to be working. I added in the top of the "chan_change.sh" a eject /dev/hdc & And when I push the channel -/+ button, the screen refreshes, but no open cdrom drive or activity on the lircd... the script isn't being run! Quote: your second ir blaster should be sending out ir signals now as well, you just need to have the script located in the mythtv-setup as well, on your 2nd input's external channel change script area (mythtv-setup -> number 4 -> your 2nd tuners input -> type in the external change thing Quote: "/usr/local/bin/chan_change.sh" I put it under Svideo0, Composite0, and Tuner0. Did I miss something, do I need a "chan_change.sh $1" on the end ? I don't get it ?!!? I used the config that was posted earlier, i've included it below. I live in canada and have the same motorola reciever.... which reminds me btw, does anyone know how to get the guide to come up ? Once i get this working id like to map one of the buttons for that feature ![]() And the working / non working issue, the black and white + no sound vs full color working with sound, i have no idea where to go. I suppose I should start with posting error messages and trying newer nvidia drivers / capture drivers ? or kernel ? Ive tried playing with the over lay options / enable /disable mpeg hardware decoder output, and openGL. any other ideas would be execellent ![]() Thanks so much for any help all ! ![]() JC Dmesg Info (slightly pruned) ivtv: ==================== START INIT IVTV ==================== ivtv: version 0.3.8 (tagged release) loading ivtv: Linux version: 2.6.13.2-chw-3 SMP preempt 586 gcc-3.3 ivtv: In case of problems please include the debug info ivtv: between the START INIT IVTV and END INIT IVTV lines when ivtv: mailing the ivtv-devel mailinglist. ivtv: Unknown card: vendor/device: 4444/0016 ivtv: subsystem vendor/device: 1070/8003 ivtv: iTVC16 based ivtv: Defaulting to WinTV PVR 250 card ivtv: Please mail the vendor/device and subsystem vendor/device IDs and what kind of ivtv: card you have to the ivtv-devel mailinglist: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ivtv ivtv: Prefix your subject line with [UNKNOWN CARD]. <- Could this be an issue ? A few things I notice... I recently did a clean install of R5A30 and I have ivtv version 0.4.0. You're showing ivtv 0.3.8. Maybe you need to upgrade to 0.4.0? Quote: ivtv: version 0.3.8 (tagged release) loading
Re: black & white picture and no sound... Does your XF86Config-4 specifiy NTSC or PAL tv standard? If you're in Canada, it should be NTSC. Is the audio output of your cable/satellite receiver box plugged directly into your PVR-150? Re: chan_change.sh Did you change your permissions so user MythTV can execute it? Code: # chmod 755 /usr/local/bin/chan_change.sh

Post subject: | hey hey |
Hey Thanks soo much for the reply.... Ive been thinking of going to 0.40, but want to try a few things before that. I managed to get the remote to kick off the script by adding a $1 at the end. Im not sure if its a required parameter but it sure made mine work. So for the external channel change command I did change "/bin/change.sh" to "/bin/change.sh $1" , without the quotes ![]() Ive been getting somewhere with trial and error in regards to the video working with sound, or black and white video and no sound After about 3 reboots, and running this in the console rmmod lirc_pvr150 rmmod lirc_dev modprobe lirc_pvr150 and restarting X (ctrl + alt + del), I get into myth and it works perfectly... with the exception of the blue bar around 2 sides of the screen, but im sure thats just an X setting. Im thinking my XF86Config is set to NTSC... ill verify this and yes the audio is hooked into my PVR150... and as I said when the picture is color it works perfecly, when its black n white ... it does not. strange. EDIT: just checked the configs, im running on SVIDEO out off the card btw, at 1024X768 to a projection screen, changing HZ doesn't seem to make a difference.... Ill keep post here if I make any more progress. If anyone has any more ideas please let me know.... thanks JC |

I noticed you have the non-mce PVR-150. Are you using the 'silver' remote. And if so, what did you select when you did your installation? The choices were: a) black b) grey c) silver - A415-HPG d) PVR-150 w/ ir transmitter & receiver e) radio shack remote I've been reading lately about using the 'grey' selection, but then I read the latest R5A30 release notes and it seems they've updated "New lircd.conf and lircrc for "silver" remote." Thanks in advance! |

I do actually have the silver remote, 44 buttons? or so. I picked "d" when I installed it. I'll try grey, but I think it has less buttons ? ... the config which i posed for the most part all the buttons work. My biggest issue at the moment is getting the box to work when its booted. It will not work on a clean boot with out "fiddling". ![]() I didn't have time tonite to try and changes, but tommorow I hope to Ill keep everyone posted.... Let me know if you have any ideas....
