What do you mean by "impossible"? Is the button grayed out? Not there at all? Can you not find it?

Please describe the symptoms in more detail.

I don't think you can scan for channels on a PVR-250, VBI would have to be working to get it to pick up the channel names (I'll have to double check when I get home tonight, but if you can't get to it with the up/down arrow keys, it is unavailable).

You have to add the channels manually. When first setting it up, I find it easier to run mythfilldatabase to get all the channels in with the correct xmlids, then go through each one and set the channel/frequencyID accordingly for your area.

Cheers,

Allen

I seem to remember seeing something about this in MythTV 0.19. At least I've noticed that the button isn't greyed out in the SVNs I've experimented with...

I have a simulair problem, scanning doesn't work for me either, and I live in Holland, eventhough there is tv_grab for the netherlands, the file doesn't seem to exist:

.xmltv/tv_grab_nl.conf does not exist, run me with --configure

Can't find the file on the system with a find expression and the --configure option doesn't work at all, it's not found on the system.

I'll probebly will fill the db manual, but I just wanted to mention it for maybe some improvement..

I was putting the freqvenses manual instead... But its a hard work since i need to look for a freqens table that match my channels... I was trying to upgrade to 0.19 but since my knowledge about debian and mythtv is low i wait for a new iso its easyier for me...

presidentucv: Log in as mythtv and try running "tv_grab_nl --configure".

gorlab: If you set your source up correctly in the setup, there are aliases that can be used instead of frequencies. Ex. for US Cable, you just use 1, 2, 3, etc. If you are from outside NA, the naming is a little more complicated. I had to look at frequencies.c to get it right http://cvs.mythtv.org/trac/browser/trunk/mythtv/libs/libmythtv/frequencies.c?rev=9056

One thing that's not so nice in Holland, is the description and categorie of the program-information.

There is a grabber (which I'm currently using) which does grab that info.

It's available at : http://visualization.tudelft.nl/~paul/grabber/

Thanks for the help, it worked! The only problem left, I still don't see any picture, I haven't got a clue what's the problem, I have been trying to insert de frequenties all possible ways I can think of. Using pal as default.

Well maybe I'll get it tommorow fixed.

Oh and about the tv_grab_nl_py it looks very promissing, I will surely try it!
