Hi all, I am having a difficult time getting my PVR-500 to work with Knoppmyth. I am using R5A30.2 I have combed this and other forms for suggestions and have tried the processes outlined in: http://www.bitbenderforums.com/~ralpha6 ... mythtv.htm http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... 0DualTuner http://www.bitbenderforums.com/~ralpha6 ... mythtv.htm As well as a variety of posts here. It seems to be detecting the card fine: Quote: cat /var/log/messages | grep WinTV Mar 9 14:31:22 mythserver kernel: ivtv0: Autodetected WinTV PVR 150 card (iTVC16 based) Mar 9 14:31:22 mythserver kernel: ivtv0: Initialized WinTV PVR 500 (unit #1), card #0 Mar 9 14:31:22 mythserver kernel: ivtv1: Autodetected WinTV PVR 150 card (iTVC16 based) Mar 9 14:31:22 mythserver kernel: ivtv1: Initialized WinTV PVR 500 (unit #2), card #1 Mar 9 15:18:33 mythserver kernel: ivtv0: Autodetected WinTV PVR 150 card (iTVC16 based) Mar 9 15:18:33 mythserver kernel: ivtv0: Initialized WinTV PVR 500 (unit #1), card #0 Mar 9 15:18:33 mythserver kernel: ivtv1: Autodetected WinTV PVR 150 card (iTVC16 based) Mar 9 15:18:33 mythserver kernel: ivtv1: Initialized WinTV PVR 500 (unit #2), card #1 Quote: dmesg | grep tuner

Hi again, I realised that I didn't specify what the problem was. It seems to take quite a while to display anything, and once it does it is a "slide show", and it seems to be the second tuner if that makes a difference (i.e., the first one doesn't seem to work) I piped the output from the mythfrontend to a file and this is the output: Quote: 2006-03-09 19:13:57.581 Enabled verbose msgs : important general

Try R5B7, be sure to drop all your card definitions in mythtv-setup and rrecreate them. There's more here under "After the install (phase 2):" http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9069 |

Hi, Thanks for bringing R5B7 to my attention. Somehow I overlooked the release. I went through the instruction on the thread that you provided. Fortunately, I was starting from scratch, so I could do a new install and then make the changes that they suggest to /etc/modules, recreate the cards in mythtv-setup, reboot, then give it a try. Unfortunately, it's still not working for me. In the mythbackend.log, here is the output when I try to watch TV: Quote: 2006-03-20 11:12:45.418 Using runtime prefix = /usr 2006-03-20 11:12:45.680 New DB connection, total: 1 2006-03-20 11:12:45.710 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: localhost 2006-03-20 11:12:45.749 Current Schema Version: 1123 Starting up as the master server. 2006-03-20 11:12:47.540 New DB connection, total: 2 2006-03-20 11:12:47.544 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: localhost 2006-03-20 11:12:47.632 New DB connection, total: 3 2006-03-20 11:12:47.649 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: localhost 2006-03-20 11:12:48.006 New DB scheduler connection 2006-03-20 11:12:48.010 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: localhost 2006-03-20 11:12:48.615 mythbackend version: 0.19.20060121-2 www.mythtv.org 2006-03-20 11:12:48.627 Enabled verbose msgs: important general 2006-03-20 11:12:48.654 AutoExpire: Found 2 recorders w/max rate of 144 MiB/min 2006-03-20 11:12:48.658 AutoExpire: Required Free Space: 3.1 GB w/freq: 10 min 2006-03-20 11:12:50.117 Reschedule requested for id -1. 2006-03-20 11:12:51.253 Scheduled 0 items in 1.1 = 1.13 match + 0.01 place 2006-03-20 11:12:51.262 Seem to be woken up by USER 2006-03-20 11:12:57.415 Running HouseKeeping 2006-03-20 11:13:10.657 MainServer::HandleAnnounce Monitor 2006-03-20 11:13:10.660 adding: mythtvserver as a client (events: 0) 2006-03-20 11:13:10.699 MainServer::HandleAnnounce Playback 2006-03-20 11:13:10.709 adding: mythtvserver as a client (events: 0) 2006-03-20 11:13:10.714 MainServer::HandleAnnounce Monitor 2006-03-20 11:13:10.723 adding: mythtvserver as a client (events: 1) 2006-03-20 11:13:10.747 TVRec(1): Changing from None to WatchingLiveTV 2006-03-20 11:13:11.263 Can't enable VBI recording (2) vbi: Invalid argument 2006-03-20 11:13:32.861 TVRec(1): Changing from WatchingLiveTV to None 2006-03-20 11:13:34.408 Finished recording Unknown: channel 1990 Actually that is the log from boot-up to trying to watch, and then it failing. In fact, my satellite provider's (ExpressVu) doesn't even have a channel 1990. Earlier log entries also mentioned a scheduled recording on ch 615, and attempted to change the tuner to that channel. Hi, I think I have nailed it down to an IRQ issue. I appreciate the feedback I have received, and understand it is no longer a KnoppMyth issue, so off topic and not apropriate for this forum. Having said that, any suggestions on places to look for a way to resolve this would be appreciated. Regards, Victor |
