Well you could always ask the system...
Code:
root@black2:~# locate blaster
/etc/init.d/irblaster
/etc/irblaster
/etc/irblaster/hardware.conf
/usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/haup-ir-blaster.bin
/usr/local/bin/irblaster.sh
/usr/local/bin/irblaster.sh.wip
/usr/local/share/knoppmyth/remotes/irblaster
/usr/local/share/knoppmyth/remotes/irblaster/etc
/usr/local/share/knoppmyth/remotes/irblaster/etc/hardware.conf
/usr/src/kernel-source-2.6.15-chw-2/Documentation/sound/oss/Soundblaster

Presumably you want the /usr/local/bin/irblaster.sh one for setting one up?

On the other hand your posting is so low on detail that you could be asking almost anything related to them... :? Maybe you want to know how to setup an external channel changing script? A better answer awaits a better question...

you are once again right on the dot!! I really appriciate your help!! I am looking to setup a lirc instance that will control an external box.

I am used to setting up ledxmit but this seems like it should be set and installed correct?

Why don't you try running the setup script and answering the questions. It might do most of the work for you, and it almost certainly will give you several more clues about things like irsend. Greg Frost, iscraigh, and afrosheen are the guys to ask.

OBTW - This isn't really an installation question anymore, and you really don't want Cecil purging it on that basis... A word to the wise...

it gives me the clues but I am not sure on what the device is using ie /dev/irblasterd or /dev/lircd

both give me connection errors. I know this system works fine, as I was using it on the 30.2 install.

thanks again

now the systems (pvr-350) remote has stopped working. Can someone please fill me in on how the system's lirc is setup with the internal (pvr-350) remote and the external IR blasters transmitter works? or point me to the dosumentation on how this was implemented.

Thanks

I think it assumes that you're using the same card for both. See the giant irblaster thread here: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6206&highlight=irsend
BTW - You should have already found that by yourself...

interesting I have been having the same issue but I thought it was due to having 2 pvr250 cards. I have been trying to work through it with Greg but have not had any luck yet. About 1/2 way down this post i describe how I got it working.

Give both methods a try.

Unfortunately for you guys, my ir receiver is a USB based one that doesnt use /dev/lirc (it used /dev/usb/hiddev0). This means that my blaster does use /dev/lirc. If you have a receiver that uses /dev/lirc, this complicates matters. I thought you should just be able to change the IRBLASTER_DEVICE in /etc/irblaster/hardware.conf to /dev/lirc1 (or /dev/lirc2), but iscraigh seems to be having problems when that is all he does.

I actually have a ATI all in wonder RF remote coming so I will have a new challenge with that. I am going to upgrade to R5B7 next week so I will try the script again before the new remote comes.

this is not for a remote. This is for a transmitter. I need to setup an external transmitter to change the channels.

I am trying the LEDxmit steps now since no one really knows how the one in R5b7 is setup properlly.

Thanks for the help!!

THIS HAS BEEN SOLVED THANKS FOR THE HELP!!!

I setup an instance of LEDXMIT

We found the problem with iscraig's irblaster setup. Your problems are probably the same, so if you ever re-install, rather then going down the ledxmit path, you could try the solution posted here:
