I want to thank everyone on here first that spends time writing walk throughs and documents for Myth for all of us that aren't as good. It takes time to answer people's questions and code Myth, and write up bugs. So... Thanks. My question is the following: I am sorry. I am running 0.19 Release 5 B 7 of knopp myth. I apologize. From the sounds of it, I really wanna get my hands on 0.20 now. =) So my issue I think have mostly been resolved. I read the forums, and configured myth for at least 12 hours yesterday. My outstanding issues are only that I can not get the IR-blaster configred. I have the remote working to myth, but it doesn't help too much when Myth can no change the channel. I have read through about 700 pages of forums on LIRC recompiling, and all I ever seem to accomplish to to break the remote that is already working. I have mythfilldatabase working, the tuner, and the remote. The only portion I am missing is the IRblaster. I have: This irblaster: http://irblaster.info/ I have my serial port configured to 2F8 which should be com 2, although when I confire that in Myth I get the following in the /var/log/syslog Mar 26 05:53:24 mythtv lircd-0.8.0pre4-pvr150[2576]: accepted new client on /dev/lirc Mar 26 05:53:24 mythtv lircd-0.8.0pre4-pvr150[2576]: could not open /dev/lirc Mar 26 05:53:24 mythtv lircd-0.8.0pre4-pvr150[2576]: default_init(): No such device Mar 26 05:53:24 mythtv lircd-0.8.0pre4-pvr150[2576]: caught signal I am running on: Intel 1.5 Ghz 512 MB RAM GeForce 5200 PVR - 250 - Silver remote. I have been through the walk throughs that are posted on the forums, and I have found the articles, but all I ever seem to get when going through the walk throughs is that I break the existing workign remote, and still can't control the cable box. I have comcast cable, and its a DCT2224, but I think its listed on LIRC.org as the Digital Cable box... either way.... not working, or maybe I don't have the COM port config files right (I know the port works cause 0.18 was working with same hardware) -Nick |

On R5B7, you shouldnt need to recompile lirc to get a blaster working. You selected yes during install when asked if you had a blaster didn't you? Look at the stuff in this post that makes irblaster start after lirc: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... 4331#54331 |

also I wouldn't hold my breath for 0.20 it hasn't been that long since the release of 0.19, and mythtv development doesn't usually progress at a terribly rapid pace. I'd say you've go at minimum a few months. |

This post was the answer: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... 4331#54331 Thanks so much guys. So the weird thing is... I got IR Blaster working and can change the channel now with /etc/irblaster/chan_change.sh Cable 200 So when I loaded Myth frontend and was playing around, the channel wasn't changing, so I tried the script again and it worked, so I went back into setup and configured the script for the "External channel change command" and restarted the computer (to force a change in display from the monitor to the TV) and now my tuner only shows static. Weird huh? Whats going on? I then deleted all tuners, inputer, sources and tried again, reran the get channel, and mythfilldatabase and still no luck. Any ideas here guys? -Nick |

As an update I have tried Cable-us, cable-hrc, etc (all the USA ones at least) and it had no effect. I re-ran the channel scan, and mythfilldatabase after each one. cable-us is the default when knoppmyth first installs which works. Weird huh? -Nick |
