I got the MSI GeForce 6200 because it had the composite out. I can't use the composite out yet because my TV is older. I was thinking about the future. It turns out, however, that besides composite, it has only S-video out. Looking at my equipment, I don't have an S-video in either. I had simply assumed there would be an RCA out or that at least one of my devices would have an S-video in. I really need to upgrade some of this stuff, but I keep blowing all my money on gadgets lately. Harmony 880 remote, Axim X51v, about Hauppauge 150, 106GB hard drive, GeForce 6200...The sad thing is everything except the Axim as all for MythTV, not because I need a PVR, but because it sounded like a LOT of fun!
Back to the point, here's my question. I have the pigtail from the back of the Radeon 9800 AIW which has an RCA output on it and a little something (thought it was S-video, but I think it has more pins. Fits into the plug in the back of the 6200, though) to RCA plug from a Radeon 9250, but neither of these seems to get video to my TV. To get the signal from the card to the back of the TV I am just using a standard, cheap RCA audio cable. Should this be working or do I need to buy a new TV or a composite to RCA converter or a special cord?
Also, I bought the Hauppauge 150 card because it came with the remote receiver and the IR blaster, but I can't get the remote to work even choosing the 150 from the list in LIRC. It does mention some further configuration for the IR blaster, but I don't seem to get any results at all.
If you happen to know the answer to the second question while you are answering the first, let me know. Otherwise I am SURE it is posted all over this board and I will probably have an answer for the second question already, but I figure while I was here, might as well kill two birds..yada, yada and all that, just in case. Thanks.

As I thought, a search through the forums answered my remote question and it is working.
Also, this quesiton should have gone under hardware. I wasn't thinking since I'm basically still in the installation and configuration stage of my first MythTV box and put it under installation. Sorry about that. Feel free to call me an idiot.

I think you may be confusing Composite and Component. Composite uses a single RCA connection and works on most old or low end TVs. Component has at least 3 connectors, basically one for each color (RGB).
The nvidia cards I've bought all came with a cable to convert from Svideo to Composite. There may be a difference between the ATI and Nvidia conversion cables that stops one working with the other.
If you live in Australia I can post you a cable, as I have a bag of them somewhere.

You know what, I was confusing composite with component. The card I have has component out (RGB). What I need is composite out (RCA). I have taken a couple of steps back for the time and have concentrated on everything EXCEPT getting it to my TV. I have pretty much everything going except all my channels are snow. I'm looking at taking a few more steps back and going with Gentoo right now and installing each component seperately. I live in the US, by the way, but I really appreciate the offer. That's really going above and beyond to help out a complete stranger, which is a rare and amazing quality these days.
Anyway, I'll just buy the appropriate cables when I get to that point. I'm sure the local Radio Shack will have something. "Radio Shack, you've got questions, we hope you can use Google because we have no clue!"

Hello,
I also have a 6200TC card and have the pigtail coming out of it. It will display either S-Video, Component, RGB, or DVI. However, you want composite. The card you bought does not have it. It is possible that a different cable exists that will give you composite. However, it is also possible that you cannot get composite out of your card.
The good side is this. You really want to use component or S-Video because the picture quality is MUCH better than composite. You may need to get a newer TV that has these inputs. If you want to display HDTV you have to use component.
Hope this helps,
Rick
