The 0.19.1 release notes (for the 0.19.1 bugfix release that will precede the 0.20) says 'fixed program transition in livetv watching,' so I think that's our bug. This could have been added to the 0.19fixes after R5C7 was built.

0.19-fixes isn't a release. All fixes to the 0.19 release get appended to this version contiuously.. So today's 0.19-fixes is different (better?) than last week's.. So maybe an svn checkout of 0.19-fixes will fix the issues..

Unless they've done additional work in that area I think R5C7 has that fix already. Vanilla 0.19 had a serious problem with this which was resolved in the SVN step that Cecil included. it might be worth checking the MythTV Trac database to see if there additional symptoms to look for...

Well it appears that 0.19-fixes might not have fixed the problem, this ticket from svn trac system seems to imply that this issue is ongoing. http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/1153 I think I might have ago at this svn thing on another computer and see if that fixes it.

My memory is that it's a timing problem, related to when the new file created by the backend is actually available for the frontend to open. Basically a race condition between the BE and FE, with the file system synchronization thrown into the mix.

Just for info, the family were getting really feed up with the hesitations an dropouts to the point that I tried to downgrade to 5A22 which previously worked quite well. Bad move all sorts of things didn't work properly so I auto installed 5a22 but that didn't work as well as I remembered it too (funny how we get very quickly used to the new features) so I did an auto-install of 5C7 and it still glitches for a micro second on the half hour but it always recovers and the family are happy. So by and large a clean install has sorted out most of the issues whereas an upgrade didn't.

i think one of the problems you were having is the program content.

"today tonight" & "Home and away"

jbman, you may well be right as most of the hesitation occurs on "Seven" but the odd thing is that the hesitation occurs when the program guide changes to the next program. This only happens when there is a program change.
5D1 seems better but I am having some playback problems now and want to try 0.20 but our Broadband wholesaler pulled the plug so untill I get hooked up again I will be sticking with 5D1 and 0.19

Just wondering if anyone has an update on this issue.

I too have this problem where my remote FE freezes while watching live tv when the program changes. I've been pulling my hair out trying to find the problem, when I stumbled upon this post. Very frustrating.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Mike

Mike,
Unfortunately it is still occuring in 0.20 and they are trying to get a fix so we just have to hang in there until the fix comes along.
