I'm setting up QAM on a fusionHD5, in TimeWarner's west valley area in socal. Got DVB scan tools installed. DVB scan completes successfully, but reports 309 available services (channels). It's not getting the channel names. Is there an easier way to identify them than the -grab some frames and look- method detailed in the mythtv.org wiki?

Doing it once would be painfully tedious, but TWC has changed their QAM channel assignments 3 times in the last year so I may have to do it again periodically.

Or should I move the card back to a windows host and wait for .20?

To answer my own question:

In a nutshell, ignore to instruction in the mythtv.org wiki.

Stopped the backend
ran mythtv-setup
Imported channels from data direct
used the channel editor to note the xmltvid numbers for my qam channels
deleted the channels
used the scanner in mythtv-setup
scanner found all of my channels, including channel names
used the channel editor to set the channel numbers and xmltvid values
start the backend
mythfilldatabase
and now it works.

I still have a lot of cleanup to do from the nonfunctional channels it found in the scan.
