Post subject: | Leagl watching encryped DVB-S on MythTV ? |
Hi all I'm newbe in DVB area so forgive me maybe stupid question. Can I watch encrypted DVB-S programs on r5d1 via PCI DVB-S + CI/CAM ? Is there needed any additional software in Myth to enable attached CI/CAM ? Or maybe PCI DVB-S tuner will use/decrypt (with help of CI/CAM) automatically without any Myth software ? million thanx in advance ! |

I have succesfully used R5D1 with a KNC1 (rev2) DVB-S adapter and KNC1 CineView (rev1) CI module. I used an Aston CAM and CanalDigitaal smartcard. Worked out of the box, no additional software required. |

Wilem, Thx for replay. Did You select this particular DVB-S model because only this model is known to work with Myth or just because.... How pricy it was ? Do you know other models which are working well with Myth like i.e. Technotrend TT-Budget S2-3200 ? Thanx in advance |

Well I happened to have one. Many DVB-S adapter work fine with Linux. There is a wiki at http://www.linuxtv.org with lots of info on it. Unfortunately it's sometimes a bit outdated, but the mailinglist archives (accessible through the same URL) should provide more up to date info. For me finding out which DVB-S adapter worked with Linux was easy through Googling and the above URL. Finding out the CI/CAM support proved harder as the info is scarce and might be outdated as that part of development seems dynamic. |
