I just completed a clean (new hard drive) auto-install of KnoppMyth R5D1 on a system that I had versions from a year ago working with my Motorola DCT-6200 via the Firewire port.

Mythbackend is crashing with the following error

Code:
/usr/bin/mythbackend: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libiec61883.so.0: undefined symbol: raw1394_bandwidth_modify

Any ideas? I've tried different node/port (but that fails way sooner).

Thanks!

Not sure what the cause is, but here are some suggestions:

1. Download, build & run firewire_tester.c, as described towards the end of this thread (http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... highlight=).

2. If you are configured to use p2p, try broadcast mode.

I did #2 above to get it to work after Comcast swapped my DCT-6200 for another one. I played with port and node endlessly until I got the channel change function to work (but still no stream from backend to frontend), then changing p2p to broadcast and rebooting fixed it permanently, including after subsequent reboots. Go figure...

I ran plugreport and gscan for what seemed an eternity and finally got the port and node settings correct. Once that was done, changing to "broadcast" and rebooting seems to have "cemented" the settings for KnoppMyth and it has worked flawlessly since. Thanks, Marc.

I've got it working (mostly) using Broadcast. However I've got two problems I can't seem to figure out.

1. Nothing gets recorded on PBS Kids Sprout (218) Comcast - Malden
Instead I get the B for size. I've confirmed that I get the channel through the box and my service.

2. When I change the channel on the cable box using something other than the Myth Box, recordings stop working all together. When the Myth Box goes to record something, the channel changes, but the recording doesn't happen. I get the dreaded B instead of size. To recover, I seem to be able to get it to work again by power cycling the cable box and restarting the Myth Box.

Ideas?

The "B" file size is a common problem with the 6200 via firewire. I've found that if I use the firewire_test program to "prime" the connection, things will work fairly reliably for a few weeks before I have the problem again...
