Post subject:  How do I recompile the v4l drivers?

Hi,

I'm trying to get the remote control working with my WinFast DTV-1000T card in R5E50.

To do this, I need to alter a few lines in some of the v4l drivers.

I've followed the directions on this page and they work - sort of. I can get the remote control to work, but now I can't watch TV.

I think the problem is that there are some significant changes in the newest v4l-dvb drivers, and my DTV1000T is not recognised as a DVB card by MythTV-setup.

How can I get and then recompile the v4l drivers so that they'll work with R5E50.

Daniel

PS - I've also tried recompiling the whole kernel with the changes in it. This also almost works - but when I reboot with my new kernel the lirc modules (lircd_dev and lirc_i2c) aren't compiled and so I can't start the lirc daemon.

The issue is that with the newest versions of th v4l-dvb drivers (and the 2.6.20 kernel) that the module cx88_dvb isn't automatically loaded.

So to solve this program run (as root):
Code:
modprobe cx88_dvb

and then check that the a new file /dev/dvb/adapter0 is created.

Then add the line "cx88_dvb" to /etc/modules to preserve this change.
