Hi all,
I have been playing with knoppmyth for about a month now, and have successfully made it work as a front end for my video/photos and music. Until today, I did not have a Tuner card. My greatest achievement was making my IRMAN/Evation Remote work!.
I am new to Linux....but some Unix experience in the past.
I went out and bought a Hauppage WinTV-Nova-T-500.
I am using a fresh install of knoppmyth - so I guess it is R50E50
I sorta expected the 500 card to work out of the box LOL!
Anyway the only evidence I can find that the card exists is when I do a lsusb it shows up. (took me ages to find that even though it is a PCI card, it actually behaves as a USB)
I am using a pentium 4 2ghz, Abit BD7 II with an Asus 6800 Geforce vid card.
Can anyone point me in the correct direction (I have tried a number of step by step guides, but they all seem to assume that the card is 'more' installed than it seems)
Has anyone successfully installed a new PCI 500 card that presents as a USB device?
At one time I had a syslog that had a reference to a Nova card and to a TV Receiver (but no reference to a tuner) Unfortunately, I lost that config!! I did proceed to try and config it in Myth, but it would never seem to open the video card.
Another random question......What is the story around /dev/.static? my video devices seem to be in /dev/.static/dev/video1 etc. Is this correct?
Thanks in advance, and apologies if a search would have answered this (I tried loads of searchs)

As I understand it the Nova-T 500 is only supported by 2.6.19 kernels and later. 5E50 is a 2.6.18, I don't know if the next release will up rev the kernel.

I have submitted a howto for installation of the drivers for Nova-T 500 on R5E50 on the wiki - http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=NovaT500.
It appears that although included in later kernels, the v4l-dvb drivers can be downloaded and compiled against that 2.6.18 kernel as well. Currently no support for the remote though.

Maybe it's a big assumption, but I would think the remote would be the same as the Nova-T

Thanks for the how to, I actually decided to go for different distribution with the up to date kernel.
