I have a HDTV that can switch between resolutions. Is adjusting the modelines necessary? Will the tv beable to correct it? I'm guessing i'm not that lucky but thought i'd ask. |

You have to pick a modeline that your TV can understand. To see what modeline is in effect, look at /var/log/Xorg.0.log Look for these lines: Code: Validated modes: (see what follows that) Code: Setting mode "ATSC-720-60p" (to see what it's selecting - may be different for GUI vs various video sizes) Code: Virtual screen size determined to be 1280 x 720
(See how big it thinks the screen is) |

To ensure what mode you are using you need to check the line "Setting Mode", because the virtual screen size might not be equal to your actual screen. Bruce S. |
