Just wanted to check if anyone was using one of these. I want to put two in my machine as I only have two PCI slots. From previous postings they looked a bit flakey so wondered if anyone on the newer builds was haing good success.

Thanks in advance..

Steve

Hi Steve

I've got one of these in my box and for the most part it works fine.

I had the E50 build using the instructions on the wiki (you do have to follow them to turn on the amp, otherwise I couldn't get any channels), and did an upgrade to F1 when it was released.

I suffer occasional freezes, but am unsure of the exact cause so can't say if it's the card or not, but did see in the logs somewhere that the card had been unmounted or something around the time when the machine froze.

Hopefully the support for the card will improve with newer kernels.

Hi Verbetex,

Thanks for the response.

I'll give the card a go and see what happens. I'm just in the process of upgrading all my hardware and thought I could swap from 2 tuners to 4 by going with the Nova-T 500's as opposed.

I see you also use the Asus board which I just purchased. My Abit board I've been using over the weekend drove me nuts with how tempramental it seems to be so I decided to ditch it. Do you use the digital audio header for sound output. I can't seem to find anywhere that sells the part in the UK :(

Cheers,
Steve[/quote]

I don't use that at the moment, but I do use the component out which works quite well (although it is a bit over exposed I think).

Hi,

I've just installed one of these and it works fine in the latest release of knoppmyth.

I would recommend upgrading the firmware though (see my other posts: http://www.mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=16306) as this will get the remote working (which currently does not work with the bundled firmware) and also to turn the amplifiers on or else you will get poor signal strength.

I have no problems with freezing (yet!) and it works well at 68% signal strength.

Other things I've noticed:
1. I could not get this card working on MythDora 4.0 - would lock but not download any channel headers. But works straight away on Knoppmyth.
2. Make sure video 4 linux is installed or else appears not to work.
3. Make sure you have a good aerial with a high-gain, pointing at the antenna properly. I live in a poor reception area and had to install a mast head amplifier of 26db but all works fine now!
