I recently purchased an ATI HDTV Wonder so that I can tune QAM channels from my cable operator (Charter).

My existing MythTV has a master backend with the following specs:

Knoppmyth R5F27
K7VTA3 Mobo
Sempron 2500 CPU
512Mb PC2700 memory
500Gb HD

3 - PVR-150 Tuners connected to standard cable coax
1 - PVR-150 connected to digital tuner box via AV inputs
(controlled via serial port for channel changes)

I have two lineups with Schedules direct.
1) Standard cable channels, assigned to the 3 coax connected PVRs
2) Premium digital channels only, assigned to the tuner box PVR

The system is very stable and has the ability to record from all 4 inputs simultaneously, as it is currently configured.

What I would like to do is remove one of the coax connected PVRs, and install the ATI HDTV Wonder instead, so that I can access the clear QAM channels from my cable provider.

This unit is used as a Master Backend only, and is not used for playback. There are 2 existing Frontend only machines currently in use, with a future expansion to 3 planned.

My question is whether or not substituting the HDTV card for one of the existing PVRs will overtax the backend, which handles all recording, commercial flagging, and transcoding jobs.

Would adding a slave backend be a better choice?

Also,
If anyone can shed any insights on the best way to add the third, HD only lineup from Schedules Direct, that would be very helpful as well.
