I just rebuilt my system for HD playback: AMD BE-2400 (2.3Mhz Dual core, low power version of the 4400+) ASUS M2N-E Motherboard 2GB Ram MSI Nvidia NX7300GS, 256MB Fanless 2 Hard Drives, Recordings go to one and the OS and database is on the other 2 PVR 150s connected to analog cable 1 PVR 250 connected to a digital cable box 1 HDHomerun connected to an OTA antenna Everything works great except for the HDHR. I can connect to it fine, and I can watch OTA HD fine for 3 to 4 minutes before the image just freezes. It is very consistant. This is with on other programs recording. Running the frontend in a terminal this is the error message: NVP: prebuffering pause Ringbuf(/myth/tv/xxxxxxxx.mpg) waited 1.0 seconds for data to become available checking to see if there's a new live tv program to switch to . . This message will keep repeating forever. I am not using XVMC for playback. I tried turning off the deinterlacing, I tried turning off priority threads. While the HD content does play there is no skipping or studdering. Any ideas? |

My power supply appears to be the updated one. To further narrow down the issue I installed both the frontend and backend on my desktop through the ubuntu repos. The HDHR works flawlessly on my desktop machine, so I don't think it is the tuner. I also tried increasing the buffer size, but that made no difference. |

HD recordings stop soon after beginning also, it isn't just live tv |

Any help in the logs? They're in /var/log/mythtv/* NOTE if mythfrontend.log is owned by root. you may need to look in ~mythtv/xsession-errors for frontend info |

I set a program to record via mythweb and the recording still quit recording after a couple minutes without viewing anything on the frontend. The frontend log for this time period was empty. I have attached the backend log for this time period. I don't see anything obvious, but if anyone else does please let me know. What size are your hard drives? You mention one for recordings and one for KnoppMyth: are you running LVM or storage groups or something else? |

I have one 300GB drive mounted as root, swap, and myth which holds the database and my ripped DVDs, and then a 500GB drive mounted as /myth/tv for recordings. FYI for any other special folks like me, here were the issues: Apparently I had 2 issues. The first was ram related. But during my diagnosis I setup a temporary backend on my desktop. Anyway, I never disabled the "temporary" backend server, and while it wasn't set to record anything and was not being used by a frontend or in use in any way, it was periodically polling the HDHR and reseting it. Go figure. Thanks Again |
