Post subject:  Right side of HDTV cut off on old TV

Hi,

I'm using the pcHDTV-3000 and an nvidia FX5200. I'm using the S-Video out on the FX5200 to go to an old 27" 4:3 aspect ratio television's S-Video in. I just copied over the XF86Config-4.nvidia-tvout.sample as is and most of the digital channels I can receive look pretty great.

However, all the true HDTV stations (that seem to have a 16:9 aspect ratio) appear on my TV as if I'm slightly zoomed in on the left-hand side. That is, a sliver of the right-hand side of the image is chopped off, i.e., off the screen.

I don't know a thing about modelines, overscan, nvtv, nvidia-settings or whatever that might be related to this, so if someone can say clearly how to make my HDTV stations fit on a regular TV screen while not messing up the nice full-screen images I get for other digital channels, I'd be grateful. Thanks.

Brian

Have you tried hitting the W key to get to the different aspect ratio options?

Post subject:  No--Sorta Solved

Hi, no, I didn't know about the W option. I will try that. I mainly have this solved by using some option in the settings (I forget what it's called) that seems to adjust everything to the right aspect ratio.
