Post subject: | How to run dtvsignal with HD-3000 and R5A26? |
I have a new R5A26 install with a PVR-250 that is working pretty well. I just added an HD-3000 card and have not succeeded in getting signal yet. I've searched the forums/faqs/wiki for the answer to this, but haven't found it. Judging from the flury of posts earlier this fall, I think the default drivers installed with R5A26 are pretty different from earlier revs so many of the older postings don't translate. (For example, some recommend unloading the cx88_dvb drivers and loading the cx88_atsc drivers, but there is no cx88_atsc driver on my system that I can find). I've tried the dtvsignal that came with R5a26, as well as the latest download from pchdtv.com which claims to work with the dvb *or* other drivers. In all cases, it reports 000 for any channel I try. But, as someone pointed out in another post, if you point dtvsignal at a bogus device (e.g. /dev/null) it gives the same answer. So I think I may not be pointing it at the right device. I've tried /dev/video32 (which is the device myth-setup suggested), /dev/dtv*, /dev/dvb/adapter* (by running the new dtvsignal with "-dvb N" where N is 0, 1, 2, or 3). Should it matter whether myth-backend is running? I've tried it both ways. I'm using an indoor antenna. I'm 5 miles from the transmitters, with clear line of sight to them, and no large buildings or obstructions nearby. I suppose it's possible I'm really getting signal strength 0, but it seems unlikely. If I've missed something obvious, please hit me over the head with the clue bat. Thanks in advance ... |
