Hi,

I have an R5A30.2 installed myth box with 2 pcHDTV HD3000 cards getting OTA HD signals hooked up to my Sony (KV30XBR910) Wega 30" XBR via the DVI port.

The video card is an ASUS XSeries V9520 128MB (GeForce FX 5200).

After setting the machine up (turning it off), I plugged it into the DVI port on the TV and powered it up. It displayed on the screen and was actually usable but did not use the entire screen for the knoppmyth display or playback. Using the TV's zoom function, I was able to get it close to the full screen, but it still has about an inch border around the picture that isn't being used. Also, the MythFrontend is cut off on the top and bottom.

What is the recommended method for getting the correct video settings configured under KnoppMyth? If this can be done without using Windows, I'd prefer that, as I have looked at doing this a year or so ago and that was the recommendation to get the mod lines. Also, if I test from another box with a different video card, would that change the settings needed to get the correct resolution and refresh rate, etc.?

Thanks,
Jon

In researching this some more...Sony says the following :(

Quote:
The DVI-HDTV input terminal is compliant with the EIA-861 standard and is not intended for use with personal computers.

Well it works (not getting the full resolution I want yet, but I've got a decent picture).

My Sony manual says the exact same thing, but I have been sucessful with my Sony Wega. The modelines I use for my Sony KF-50WE610 are
Code:
#720p with overscan
Modeline "1280x720" 74.16 1280 1392 1432 1648 720 725 730 750 +hsync +vsync
#above adjusted to remove overscan
Modeline "1176x664" 74.16 1176 1288 1328 1648 664 669 674 750 +hsync +vsync

Unfortunately, I resorted to using nVidia's Windows XP drivers to obtain these modelines. I think, but am not positive, that the modelines are specific to the monitor and not the video card. So you should be able to use another machine and video card to obtain the proprer timings. I used nVidia's WinXP drivers to set card for HDTV, went to the adjust timings tab, and copied the settings. Then let the drivers adjust for overscan and copied the new timings. Then made modelines from those timings.

I got the following modeline working (though with some overscan I have not yet tried to correct):

Code:
ModeLine "1920x1080" 74.250 1920 2008 2052 2200 1080 1084 1094 1124 interlace +hsync +vsync

I also resorted to the powerstrip via Windows approach to get it. My TV was actually reporting useful information over the E-DID (or whatever it is called) that PowerStrip was able to figure out and work with.

I hope to try the following 720p resolution in the near future that also came from my PowerStrip E-DID report and testing.

Code:
ModeLine "1280x720" 74.250 1280 1390 1430 1650 720 725 730 750 +hsync +vsync
