My MBE works pretty well with R5F1 and I plan to upgrade soon to F27. But every once in a while, more frequently lately, the recordings on it have NO SOUND. This never happens on the SBE at all.

Messing with Alsamixer or aumix or whatever that xterm sound menu item is, does not fix the problem. Only rebooting seems to fix it.

I'm not sure what to look for in the logs but I do see this item near the time when it happens in messages:

Feb 10 20:40:00 mythtv kernel: ivtv0 warning: CX2341X_ENC_STOP_CAPTURE took 143
jiffies (1000 per HZ)

and probably more pertinent, from the mythbackend.log:

2008-02-10 20:40:00.896 AFD: Opened codec 0x8180e70, id(MPEG2VIDEO) type(Video)
2008-02-10 20:40:00.922 NVP: Disabling Audio, params(-1,-1,-1)
2008-02-10 20:40:00.942 NVP: Disabling Audio, params(0,-1,-1)

Why would the system be doing this?

Thanks for your help.

I am also experiencing this, and see the same "Disabling Audio" message in both the mythfrontend and mythbackend logs. The most recent occurrence seems to coincide with tonights attempt to view the soundless recordings.

Please, does anybody have any ideas? It doesn't seem to be following any kind of pattern.

I'm running a single box with two PVR-350s (although the 2nd hasn't been called in to play in quite awhile).

This post at http://www.opensubscriber.com/message/mythtv-dev@mythtv.org/3908708.html indicates that it was fixed in an svn version. Maybe that fix has gone into 0.21, so it might not occur after an upgrade.
