I can't seem to get audio working inside of MythTV.

Audio works fine in xawtv and mplayer, so I know sound is configured correctly, and my capture card outputs sound.

What could be going on?

Using KnoppMyth R16 which has MythTV 18.1

Using alsa drivers for Sound Blaster Live!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i had problems getting sound to work, as I had both an onboard sound card and a sound blaster live - i disabled the on board sound card in the BIOS and didnt have problems after that...

I found with R5A16 that by default it is using the digital out. I have a Audigy and found that I was getting a buzz out of my speakers when I first installed.

The reason for this was that I use 5.1 Analog and had my Sub/Centre connected through the digital out. When I ran the alsamixer and turned off the digital out it worked sweet as a nut.

Don't forget to store your alsa settings.

I've got a similar situation...however, not knowing what the digital out is listed under in alsamixer...I can't track it down to turn it off.

What's the name of digital out in alsamixer?

Hi,

You don't say what TV card you are using. If it is a framegrabber, like a WinTV card then you must connect the audio out on the TV card to the line in on the sound card.
