I need to to compile the SVN version of 0.18.2 on Xebian 1.1.4 (XBox). To do this requires xfree86-devel. Doing an apt-get to retrieve xfree86-devel results in this error:

Building Dependency Tree... Done
E: Couldn't find package xfree86-devel
xbox1:~/mythtv#


Any info on how to get this package or compiling in general on an XBox would be appreciated.

try -dev instead of -devel

No luck :(

Here is my sources.list - maybe someplace is missing?

well that was just a guess, all development packages end in -dev so do an apt-cache search xfree and look for the dev packages.

You can search the entire debian package repositry here:
http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages#search_packages

It didnt find xfree86-dev tho :(

what about x11-dev ?

That worked in getting the compile to proceed, thanks. It's actually still compiling as I type this, it'll probably be a few more hours until I know whether it all worked.

One thing I have found is that once x11-dev is installed, X hangs on reboot and spits out this message over & over:

agpgart: Unsupported NVIDIA chipset (device id: 02a5),  you might want to try agp_try_unsupported=1


Once I get everything to compile, and figure out how to get X working again, I'll post a complete writeup on what I did to compile MythTV SVR on the XBox.
