When I bought a Hauppauge PVR-350 I was under the misguided impression that it was a DVB-T ( freeview ) reciever.

As far as I can see after installing it, it's not!

1. how is everyone else recording off freeview?

2. as Knoppmyth has the ability to record different channels from the epg is there anyway that knoppmyth can change channels on a freeview box?

Currently all I can see is BBC1,2,ITV, C4 & C5

2) Yes, you could connect your freview box to the PVR-350, but then you need an IR-transmitter to change channels on your freeview box. I think this is not so easy to set up.

You can get the hauppauge nova-t in the UK for £40. Works out of the box, has a decent remote
