I've taken a few breaks. Almost there. Uploading a release to testers now...

Hopefully, Linus and crew's work with Kernel 2.6.23 will sort out some of crankiness wth Apci and s3 (suspend). That could push power management to a new level of efficiency :D

Plus in the 2.6.23 Kernel you have the XFS file system improvements.

XFS - improvements

"Concurrent Multi-File Data Streams: In media spaces, video is often stored in a frame-per-file format. When dealing with uncompressed realtime HD video streams in this format, it is crucial that files do not get fragmented and that multiple files are placed contiguously on disk. When multiple streams are being ingested and played out at the same time, it is critical that the filesystem does not cross the streams and interleave them together as this creates seek and readahead cache miss latency and prevents both ingest and playout from meeting frame rate targets. This feature creates a "stream of files" concept into the allocator to place all the data from a single stream contiguously on disk so that RAID array readahead can be used effectively. Each additional stream gets placed in different allocation groups within the filesystem, thereby ensuring that XFS doesn't cross any streams."

The only problem is "and at the moment on Linux there is no way to convert an old filesystem, although one solution will be developed."

Well, I'm pleased with what we have! I'm still awaiting feedback from the testers. If it isn't out by Friday, join us in #knoppmyth on irc.freenode.net. I'm sure after I few, I can be persuaded to given the URL for the RC ;).

I just want to have a test and check on the new functionalities of MythTV 0.21...
I'll test it on my second MythTV server, and I'm leaving my 'production' machine untouched until the Real Thing is out.

pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty please???

The release should be out RSN (days not weeks). Memory says that there aren't any more show stoppers on the issues list and most of the remaining issues are upstream bugs (in MythTV or certain drivers). Please be patient.

Well I wasn't aware of the party so I wasn't there.

I want 0.21 and I want something that will run the rt2x00 wireless drivers*. I have therefoe installed mythbuntu but I don't like it much (bah it installs one partition and tv, video, music etc are in /var/lib/mythtv).

I want to go back to knoppmyth but I couldn't get the wireless driver to go in r5f27, plus I want multirec from myth 0.21.

In short I want the new version of knoppmyth! Is there any new info on when it will be out or where I can get the testing version.

Thanks.

* PS that sounds a little demanding, not meaning to be, just after some info. I know about "when it is ready", just SOME news is all I am asking for ;-)

:)

Reminds me of a Futurama quote;

Fry: Uh, could I have some Slurm please?
Glermo: No food or drink allowed on the tour. You'll have to wait until you're partying with Slurms McKenzie.
Fry: When will that be?
Glermo: Soon enough.
Fry: That's not soon enough!
