I want something that will run the rt2x00 wireless drivers

R5.5 release candidates have kernel 2.6.23, and it looks like 2.6.24 is the first version that includes rt2x00. I'm using rt2570 in an R5.5 release candidate, and there are also drivers for rt2400, rt2500, rt61, and rt73.

If you feel you could provide good testing, feedback, and fixes for problems you encounter, send Cecil a note to apply to become a tester. I don't know what exact criteria he uses, but you can always ask :)

Hi Cecil,

Is there any word on when this will be out?

I've finally got all my pieces gathered to build my HTPC but I'm on overtime at work so I wont get to play till the weekend.

I'd like to start with the newest version of MythTV if I could.

Thanks!

Steve

Soon. Cecil is out of town at the moment on business but has expressed a desire to wrap things up this week if at all possible.

Great! I'll get it built over the weekend, but I'll probably hold off loading KM till the new version comes out then.

Thanks for the update!

My guesstimate is 3 more weeks. No basis of knowledge for that other than the universal law of "Past performance provides a strong prediction of future performance"

We've been hearing "hopefully this week" for awhile. I sure hope it's this week. But I'm not holding my breath. I'd rather it be -ready- than rushed. So please, make sure it's good to go, please dont rush it this week because people are antsy (I know I am...a buddy with Mythbuntu is making me jealous with his storage groups)

Besides, I'll probably wait until after the season finale of Lost before I dare upgrade. That would be a tragic if Lost were, uhm...lost.

Thanks for the hard work!

We're actually down to one last serious issue with the AV-710 sound card and AC3/DTS support. Everything else that's going to get fixed is pretty well sorted. I've already posted a draft version of the R5.5 Hints for review. Oh, and as I said before Cecil _really_ wants to get this wrapped up.

Thanks for the update TJC, knowing why it isn't out yet makes the wait easier.

Cecil has also been feeling a bit under the weather. I suspect his business trip included flying with a head cold which made things worse. When I chatted with him earlier today he was definitely _not_ a happy camper. :(

Any chance of getting a beta version?

I've got the machine built and am just waiting for the new version to come out.
