Post subject: | How to Quickly/Auto Change Volume ? |
Hello, All, Using R5C7 now and absolutely love it. My only question at the moment is whether or not there's any way of setting up a button as a macro that toggles the volume between current levels and a "commercial-safe" level of sorts, perhaps -20% or so. Maybe it's just us, but my wife and I can't help but notice that, more and more these days, the commercials are SO much louder than the programs themselves... it's just aggravating. I tried using the commercial auto-skip feature, but either 1) it doesn't work well or 2) I don't understand it enough; it seemed to cause lockups with the mythtv frontend and other miscellaneous issues. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! |

LOL ![]() Granted, that's what we do a lot, but I was thinking something along the lines of the "AVL" or "Automatic Volume Leveling" function of some of the new TV's... |

strick1226, I've always wanted the same feature. It would be great to have a button that dropped the volume down a couple of levels but not completely mute it. Until now I hadn't thought of actually trying to impletent this idea but I think this should work. According to the lirc docs we should be able send multiple commands for one button press, so we could just send a couple of volume down commands. Then if we put a second "config" line with an equal number of volume up commands LIRC will toggle between the two operations. I haven't actually tried it yet but it sounds like it should work. |

I know this doesn't answer your question, but if commercial skip doesn't work why not fast forward? I haven't watched a commercial on my Myth system, muted or not, since I set it up. |

Already doing that, but it's a but awkward if a lot is happening in the house at the time, on occasion. Not a big deal, just wondering if anyone else had tried it. |
