I just upgraded from R5Bsomething to R5C7. All went great thanks to the forums and the wiki, all went very quickly.
The only (apparent) problem I have right now is that my backend thinks there's six encoders... three belonging to "mythtv" (I didn't think my backend was called that prior to the upgrade...) and three belonging to "mbe" (which is what I thought it was named before, and what I named it when installing R5C7)

Yes, Pokemon... had to sedate the kids during the update.
I did re-run mythtv-setup, no cards appeared in the list, so I recreated them and relinked them to channels. I didn't create six, though.
How can I remove the phantom encoders? Thanks. Other than this, the upgrade was smoooooooth.
