Post subject:  Myth .20, PVR350 and OpenGL

I installed MythTV .20 on my Knoppmyth R5C7 build (after removing the .19 eb packages).

I tired using the OpenGL paint option for the menus and after a reboot, I just see a blank blue background once the front end starts. I have to manually start the front end while forcing it to use qt in order to get my menu back and change it in the settings.

I built MythTV with the opengl option during ./configure and also MythPlugins.

Does OpenGL work on Knoppmyth R5C7 or is it supported on the PVR350 output? I know that in .19 I was able to use OpenGL on the MP3 player for the graphics effects during music play back.

Thanks for any info.

I do not belive that the PVR350 has any OpenGL rendering support at all. You will need some type of Accelerated Graphics card to utilize OpenGL.

What you were seeing with your MP3's was likely a OpenGL Translation that might not be happening with the menu's.

I think your imagecache has to be regenerated AFTER moving from Qt to OpenGL. Change your resolution in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 (higher or lower), issue /etc/init.d/gdm restart and see what happens.

I tried your suggestion afrosheen and it still did not work. I did notice that when I had a blank blue screen (no menu items) that if I pressed the up arrow key (or down) and pressed enter I can see the menu that I selected appear. I hope I explained this correctly.

I'm seeing the exact same behavior as dmcman73 with nvidia s-video out. It was very difficult to turn OpenGL menus off again when you can only see them for 500 mS after moving the cursor.

I just dropped it as I was happy to have all of the old features back working again after upgrading.
