Post subject:  How to unmute HD3000 card (analog mode) in R5D1?

Hi,

In the past, I used my HD3000 card to pick up OTA digital with my antenna, but now we have moved to a home with cable TV. I've installed R5D1 and selected the v4l driver since I understand the DVB driver will only work for digital TV, and the channels I'm interested in are analog. (I seem to recall older versions of KnoppMyth had a pcHDTV-specific driver, but I don't see that with the latest releases.)

I'm able to receive video for all the analog channels, but I can't get the audio. The information I've found on the forum related to this topic for past software versions indicates the card's audio is muted by MythTV, so I've tried running

v4lctl -c /dev/video0 volume mute off

and still no audio. I've also run alsamixer and cranked everything up to the maximum.

I'm using the patch / loopback cable which came with the HD3000 to route its output back to its input. I've also tried running the card's audio output to the motherboard's line input; again, no matter what the alsamixer settings, still no audio.

I realize that analog via HD3000 isn't a very popular option, but this is the hardware I have available for this project, so if anyone can suggest what else to try to get it working, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

You have to set line or mic as the capture device. Run alsamixer, hit tab once, highlight line or mic and hit the spacebar.

I'm in a situation like yours. Have Comcast analog cable. Am to far out in the sticks for OTA HD with my HD3000 card. Can not seem to get the analog channels to work. I have two other cards in the machine (PVR 250 & PVR 350). They work fine with the Comcast source I set up. However, for some reason the HD3000 does not seem to tune more than just the first channel (2) of the analog lineup. I'm using the v4l capture driver also.

Puzzleing....
