Post subject: | Blank screen after reboot |
Got myself in some sort of bind. I was looking at getting my remote to work so I did "/usr/local/bin/lirc-reconfig.sh". In poking around looking at different threads about my remote, turns out I mistakingly changed a line in /etc/modprobe.conf from Code: include /etc/modprobe.d to Code: include /etc/modprobe.conf and then rebooted. I can't imagine that is any good. Anyway, got it changed back but still my system boots up to a blank screen. I did within the last couple of days install the latest nvidia drivers and things were working pretty good. I thought I had rebooted after finishing that upgrade, but it is possible I did not. I'm going to include the ends of a couple of log files. If something else would be helpful, please let me know. tail of /var/log/messages shows: Code: Mar 16 11:26:00 mythtv kernel: nvidia: module license 'NVIDIA' taints kernel. At this point I have commented out the startx line in vi /etc/inittab since it isn't starting. Everything seems to be pointing to the nvidia driver update but I haven't found any information on how to resolve the problem. Anyone? |

I checked that thread before. I went through it again just now but I don't see anything that helps. |

Have you tried going back to the old nvidia drivers? |

I have not. Not even sure how to go about that. With the old drivers, I couldn't watch more than a few minutes (sometimes seconds) of live or recorded TV before Xorg would consume all the CPU and the system would lock up. |

I'm really stuck here. I can't seem to find anything to fix this box. |

So do a backup and auto-upgrade. You'll lose any custome tweaks you don't have scripted, but that's most likely where the damage lies... |

Wow! That was quick! How cool it is to see the frontend again. I won't get a chance to really test it any time soon but at first glance, everything looks good. I'm not sure what custom tweaks would have been lost so I'll be going through my list of post install changes I've made. I would have never thought of "upgrading" to the same version. Thanks!!! ![]() |
