Post subject: | R5E50 - mythcommflag stuck on a recording |
Hi all, I noticed this morning that none of my recordings from the past day had commercial flagging on. I took a look at the jobs and found that mythcommflag is stuck on a single recording. It's stuck at 99% done, and top indicates that it's taking 99% of the CPU. Being lazy, I tried restarting the backend. This restarted the commercial flagging of the problem recording over again. I watched it to see that it was progressing. And now it's stuck again at 99% done. I've poked around in the logs and am not seeing anything related to mythcommflag. But I'm not sure what to look for either. I guess I don't care too much about this particular recording. Other than the fact that it indicates that there may be a bug in mythcommflag that's data related. But this problem is blocking commercial flagging for all the other recordings, so I want to clear it. Any suggestions as to how to proceed? Thanks in advance. |

I tried stopping the job from the frontend, but this didn't do anything. So I then manually killed the mythcommflag process. Now the backend thinks that the problem recording is finished, and a new mythcommflag process has started work on the next recording. So hopefully I'm unstuck now. But I still suspect that there's something about the problem recording itself that caused the mythcommflag hang. I'll keep the recording so that it can be examined further, if anyone has suggestions regarding what to do with it. |

This is an old issue. The commercial flagging process is actually fairly robust in the face of corrupted streams, but ocasionally you'll find a recording which just sends it off to the moon. I haven't found any solution other than what you did or deleting the recording as "too mangled to live". |

Thanks for confirming the problem. I did several searches before posting and didn't see anyone talking about this particular issue. Maybe I didn't do the right search. Anyway, this particular recording does seem to reliably hang mythcommflag. So it seems like I should hang onto it and try to get it into the hands of the developers. Maybe it can be used to fix this particular hanging bug. Do the developers read this forum, or should I post on the dev mailing list? |

MythTV (a suite of media applications focusing primarily on TV and video) and KnoppMyth (a Linux distro using MythTV) are two very distinct projects. If you want to get info to the MythTV developers you need to talk to them directly. http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page |
